I
chose this photography beacuse i feel very identified. This a
photography by visual pop artist: Robert Mapplethorpe, friend of Andy
Warhol, and it is part of the Queer Culture of years 60, 70, and 80,
when this Style of art was a started in underground way.
Robert Mapplethorpe
today is a gay icon, but in this times (old times) He was a
revolutionary and transgressor, this spirit is impregnated in other
images, where he worked with the erotic symbols, like bondage
objects, or parts of the body, especially penis, flacid or erect, or
also other symbols like human erotic exmaple: sex-simbols Black men,
the same as Warhol who was specially attracted to italian men.
This artist, not
only works the sexual topic, he is interested in the sensuality and
he shows in his choice of color black and white, and the sensibility
of the grayescale or other objects like flowers.
I love this
photography because I think it mixes both topics; the erotic and the
delicate feeling.
